After this Holy Hour for Canada on the eve of the Election Day. Ask God to turn our Nation towards the full protection of life from the moment of conception to natural death! And to show mercy to Canada and citizens for allowing our successive governments to legalize and fund abortion and euthanasia.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I wish to thank all those who worked so diligently behind the scenes preparing for this year's Easter Triduum, which included several volunteers and staff. Each one of you generously offered your talent, time and heart to serve our parish community. The lectors proclaimed the Word with such reverence and clarity, the choir members, through music and song, lifted our hearts in worship and helped us to express the deep sorrow and joy of the Paschal Mystery, and the altar servers' dedication allowed the liturgies to flow with such beauty and grace. Your commitment helped make these Sacred days truly meaningful and prayerful for the entire parish.

Also, thank you to the many parishioners who provided the array of fresh flowers that truly enhanced the attractiveness of our sanctuary.

May the joy of the Resurrection continue to bless your lives abundantly.

Healing Mass ~ Saturday, May 10

at 5:00 pm

A month ago we had a Mass of Anointing of the Sick and many sought the Sacrament of Anointing. The Mass of May 10 at 5:00 pm will be followed by prayers for all kinds of healing, physical, emotional pain, mental problems, spiritual disorders, long standing trauma from past abuse, etc. God wants to heal the whole person & relationships.

Pray with the laying on of hands by both priests and lay faithful will be followed by an anointing witht he oil of St. Raphael, blessed especially to invoke the healing angel's intercession of St. Therese of Lisieux.

Please note: This is not the Sacrament of the Sick but an invocation in faith of the Lord's power to heal souls and bodies.

BANNS OF ORDINATION

Rev. Mr. Jude Thusiar is to be ordained to the Sacred Order of Presbyter for the Archdiocese of Kingston on May 3, 2025, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston. Please remember him in your prayers.

Canon Law obliges Catholics to reveal any impediment to sacred orders to the bishop or pastor.

Deacon Jude Thusiar of the Archdiocese of Kingston, God willing, will be ordained to the priesthood, on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Kingston at 10:30 am.

To celebrate in this Jubilee Year of Hope, a pilgrimage to St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Kingston, for the ordination of Rev. Mr. Jude Thusiar to the Priesthood has been arranged by Father Brent Brennan. The bus will depart St Michael the Archangel's parking lot (296 Church Street, Belleville ) at 8:45am arriving at the Cathedral (279 Johnson Street, Kingston) between 9:45 - 10:00am, and returning the same day, leaving the Cathedral at 1:00pm and returning to St Michael's parking lot (296 Church Street, Belleville).

For more than fifteen years, St. Mary of Egypt Refuge has been offering Project Rachel retreats to extend hospitality and Christian Community to women who suffer the pain and grief of their children lost to abortion. Their retreats help women avail themselves of the forgiveness of Christ, and the healing that only our loving God can provide. The weekend retreat for women who have been hurt by abortion will take place May 2-4, 2025. Quinte Right to Life Association is once again inviting all pro life supporters in our communities, to join other like minded people from across our country to the "ANNUAL MARCH for LIFE" in Ottawa on Thursday, May 8th. We have arranged our travel plan through a reputable local coach company which will take us to and from our destination in comfort. We encourage those of you who plan to join us on this "journey for life" to reserve your seat(s) without delay. Again, this is an Annual National Pro Life event, where every person will be joined in harmony with others in support of the right to life from conception until natural death. Coach seats are priced @ $35 ea.

BIRTHRIGHT NEEDS YOU!!

Birthright currently has an opening on its Board of Directors. Are you someone who can attend meetings 3 – 4 times a year to help guide our centre and help in long-range planning? Birthright also needs office volunteers. Can you spare two hours a week to help a woman facing an unpanned pregnancy? If you are not able to make a regular commitment, relief volunteers are also needed. Occasionally, we may need to help one of our women with transportation or daycare. Is this something you can do? CHURCH RENOVATION UPDATE

Things move along and as the weeks go by we begin to see the renovation come together with a certain unity of colour and design, complimenting the twelve granite pillars of the church.

The main high altar is now taking shape with the Extraordinary Carrera marble being pieced together. Decorative paint work is happening behind the curtain and will give the sanctuary a heavenly look of gold and light. The sacristy has been gutted and a very high ceiling and hidden gothic windows have been uncovered. Exceptional!

New cabinets for storage in the sacristy are being designed and built by MKR Cabinets (Richard Murray). The baptismal font has been made and awaits delivery. The narthex wall is in process of being built. A new sound system is being priced and will hopefully bring an end to our auditory woes.

Dear Parishioners,

Father Brennan enjoys walking and so do some of the members of our Parish. Since we are lucky to live in Belleville, a city surrounded with several hiking trails, the idea to create a walking group to explore them has come to fruition. We meet Saturdays at 2 pm in St. Michael's Church parking lot and walk the waterfront trail. Hope to see you on Saturday!! All most welcome.

Catholic Young Adults Group meets here at the parish for anyone in their 20's, 30's or 40's. All young men & women are invited to gather regularly for adoration, Mass,

Catechism & Bible studies and for other religious activities to foster faith & fellowship.

Gleaners’ Foodbank Monthly Food Collection

On the third weekend of every month our parish will promote a food drive to provide for the ongoing daily demands of the Food bank. The blue bins which you see in the tower entrance and by the Welcome Desk are for that purpose. Dry goods and canned goods are requested. If you want a more extensive list of their needs please pick up the food list by the foldout at the entrance of the Church.

Whatsoever you do to the least of the brothers and sisters of Jesus, you do to Him.

One of the most important works of God that we do all of the time is supporting the sick and suffering with our prayers. All studies show that people who pray and receive prayer from others and are supported by the Sacraments, bear their sufferings better, recover more quickly and are open to God’s healing grace.

Will you be like the friends of the paralyzed man in the Gospel who lowered their friend through the roof right in front of Jesus, insisting that he be healed? They were so determined that their friend would encounter Jesus and experience his healing grace that they were ready to go to extreme measures on his behalf. Let’s be equally insistent and supportive.

Apostolate For The Dying

Jesus told St. Faustina, "Pray as much as you can for the dying.... Be assured that the eternal salvation of certain souls in their final moment depends on your prayers." (Diary #1777)

If you have 45 minutes on a Wednesday after the 12:10 p.m. Mass, please join us in prayers for the dying. At the moment, we meet upstairs in the Parish Centre, but when we get back into the church we kneel in front of the altar. Please consider joining us, this is such a beautiful work of mercy.

Message for Easter 2025 by Bishop William T. McGrattan, Bishop of Calgary and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, I extend to you the ancient Orthodox Easter greeting: “Christ is Risen! Truly, He is Risen!”

Each of the Gospel accounts of that first Easter morning presents us with the testimony of Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the Beloved Disciple, who encountered the astonishing reality of Christ’s Resurrection. Their despair, sorrow, and sense of loss gave way to newfound hope. The seeds of these Gospel events continue to be sown in our lives today, serving as a sure sign of the Risen Lord’s presence and the power of His Resurrection at work in our world.

In this Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Francis calls upon all the baptized, each with their unique gifts and ministries, to take co-responsibility in ensuring that the many signs of hope bear witness to God’s presence. Each year, our Holy Week celebrations lead us through the proclamation of the Word into the sacramental presence of Christ. This rich spiritual journey invites us to embrace the mysteries of our salvation with renewed faith and devotion. We walk the path of Christ’s Passion and death on the Cross, enter the silence of Holy Saturday, and then rejoice in the hope awakened within us as we renew our baptismal faith at Easter—professing our belief in Christ’s victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

This is the enduring presence of the Risen Christ in the life of the pilgrim Church—a presence illuminated by the Holy Spirit with the light of hope. It is a flame that burns continuously, “like an ever-burning lamp, to sustain and invigorate our lives” (Spes Non Confundit, no. 3).

May this light of hope, peace, and new life shine through our witness of Easter faith in the ordinary moments of family life, our parishes, schools, and workplaces. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, may we proclaim with renewed boldness: “Christ is Risen! Truly, He is Risen!”
